Hi there,

What a fucking mess. 

I am writing this during some down time at work at Judson. On my way over I was reading the news, feeling enraged that a small group of men in positions of power are continuing to bomb the shit out of innocent civilians, all while the genocide against the people of Palestine continues. The woman sitting next to me on the train saw me signing up to canvas for Zohran Mamdani, and told me her son would be happy to see that. I asked what about her? She had the remnants of a more idealistic youth still somewhere in her eyes, and I reached out with mine, hoping to stoke the embers. I got off the train and started walking to work, feeling a little hopeful and like at least there was somewhere to put all this rage, and was immediately harassed by two transphobic cops before I even got out of the station at West 4th. 

So. 

Yep.

In the midst of all this I am somehow writing a lot of music. It feels urgent, like if I don't I won't make it through this moment. I am playing some shows soon as well, and dancing a bit. While I cannot fathom what it would be like to 'celebrate pride' at a time like this, I do think that shows and all moments of communion are at the core of how we build power and get out of this.
